Amanda Levete Architects, in collaboration with the engineering firm Arup, greets visitors to the V&A. (Levete, who is at work on a new courtyard and underground extension for the museum, is married to Evans.) “Timber Wave” is a three-story-high, three-dimensional latticework spiral of American red oak that uses lamination techniques borrowed from furniture making. The piece embodies both the traditional British craft of woodworking and its talent for high-tech building.
Pretty.
