I found a great show at the Palazzo Delle Papesse:: Centro Arte Contemporanea in Siena. The subject and the name of the show were the same "numerica". Numbers and time. My favorite piece from the exhibition:
I tried to take advantage of the last weeks in December to see some local shows.
At the New York Public Library: Beatific Soul: Jack Kerouac On The Road.
My favorite thing here, hands down, was a facsimile of the weathered, oxidized, 60-foot tele-type scroll from his "On The Road" manuscript (the entire manuscript lives on two scrolls). The way it was displayed was great, completely unrolled and displayed under plexi-glass.

Then it was over to the Whitney to see Beth Campbell's "Following Room" installation (completely great). In short, she basically arranged replicas of
a reading room into a grid of mirrored pairs, creating the illusion of a three-
dimensional infinity mirror. It's hard to describe, but completely mesmerizing and awesome to see in person.

Also at the Whitney is the Kara Walker retrospective which I found really interesting (I'd never seen so much of her work at once). And of course there were other things I wasn't so crazy about, a.k.a. Lawrence Weiner, but I'll just move on!
My last stop before taking a break was the MoMA, where I saw the Martin Puryear exhibition (and subsequently fell in love). Give me an entire gallery of post-minimalist art, and I'll be happy and content for hours. What a great follow-up to the Richard Serra show from the s
ummer. The great news is you don't even have to leave your house to see the show! There's a virtual tour of the exhibition located online
here.
