ART/NY

This week has been a great week for contemporary art here in the city.

Not to be missed is the new Jeff Wall exhibition at MoMa.

A Sudden Gust of Wind (After Hokusai) 1993

I was there right when the doors opened this past Sunday. There's nothing I love more than brilliant, bigger than life photographs. MoMa is where I've discovered some of my favorite contemporary photographers: Andreas Gursky (2001 exhibition), Thomas Demand (2005 exhibition), and now I've added Jeff Wall to my list.

The Armory Show was also in full effect...

At first I couldn't decide what I was enjoying more, the people watching or the art watching! (The art totally won).

Some of my favorite pieces were by German photographer Thomas Ruff (large, pixelated, gorgeous prints); and a vivid, stunning photograph (also large in scale) by photographer Ann Collier. My two new 'ones to watch'.

I just loved this photo! I had to say that to you. I also read that one of your favorite photographers is Thomas Demand! You want to read a funny story? In the 26. Bienal of São Paulo (2004), I was, with GTM (scenography agency) in charge of the construction of the special spot for his photos! It was so great, I loved it! His work is really fantastic. I´m so lucky to meet interesting people, and you are absolutely one of them :)
